Resource Allocation for Virtual Service Based on Heterogeneous Shared Hosting Platforms

چکیده
Providing resource for virtual services in cloud computing which requires saving the resource and minimizing the amount of energy consumption is critical. In this study, we propose the resource model and linear programming formulation for multi-dimensional resource allocation problem. Based on the simulated annealing algorithm, RASA algorithms were designed to solve and evaluate through Cloudsim simulation tool compared with FirstFit Decreasing (FFD) algorithm. The parameters include the number of physical machines being used and the amount of energy consumption. The experimental results show that the proposed RASA algorithm yields a better performance than FFD algorithm. Keywords-Resource Allocation; Cloud Computing; Virtual machine; Simulated Annealing

Resource allocation algorithms for virtualized service hosting platforms
Commodity clusters are used routinely for deploying service hosting platforms. Due to hardware and operation costs, clusters need to be shared among multiple services. Crucial for enabling such shared hosting platforms is virtual machine (VM) technology, which allows consolidation of hardware resources. A key challenge, however, is to make appropriate decisions when allocating hardware resource...
متن کاملDynamic Resource Provisioning for Self-Adaptive Heterogeneous Workloads in SMP Hosting Platforms
We introduce a novel approach that allows heterogeneous applications run together on a shared hosting platform, dynamically sharing the platform’s resources. The proposed approach has been validated by a proofof-concept prototype which uses a global processor manager to distribute the platform’s processors among two (or more) heterogeneous applications, i.e. a Tomcat application server and a Gl...
متن کاملLow-Latency Caching for Cloud-Based Web Applications
Many Web applications are now hosted in elastic cloud environments where the unit of resource allocation is a virtual machine (VM) instance; entire VMs are added or removed to scale up or scale down. A variety of techniques can reduce the latency of communication between VMs co-located on the same server in, say, a private cloud. For example, paravirtualized network mechanisms (e.g., vhost and ...
متن کاملManaging Energy and Server Resources in Hosting Centers
Internet hosting centers serve multiple service sites from a common hardware base. This paper presents the design and implementation of an architecture for resource management in a hosting center operating system, with an emphasis on energy as a driving resource management issue for large server clusters. The goals are to provision server resources for co-hosted services in a way that automatic...
متن کاملAdaptive Control Technique for Workload Management on a Shared Hosting Platform
When enterprise applications are consolidated on shared platforms, meeting application-level quality of service (QoS) goals becomes a challenge because complex interactions and dependencies exist among the components of multi-tier applications. Current consolidation tools just use system utilization metrics, and do not consider such dependencies when allocating resources to individual applicati...
